May 2013

On Bank Holiday Monday, 6 May, the sun shone on Mill Fold and St Bart’s raised £280 for church funds at Ripponden Gala.  This year we launched our new Human Fruit Machine which was great fun and proved a popular attraction.  Plants, home-made sweets and buns went down well and were a near sell-out. The following Friday, just four days later, the weather was so appalling that we packed up early from the charity market stall in Halifax, having raised only £150 for general funds.  A week later we held a Beetle Drive which took some of us back to … Read more…

January 2013

After another busy year of fund-raising and social events at St Bart’s in 2012, culminating in the successful 3rd winter market on 8 December, the year has got off to a delayed start due to snow.  Last Saturday, 19 January, we reluctantly postponed the Epiphany Supper due to the weather.  It will now be held on 9 February. The 100 Club now has nearly 70 members so the first draw can be made in February, once all the standing orders and cheques have been processed.  New members are still welcome – the idea is to have 100 members but the … Read more…

Heritage Sunday – 9 September 2012

32 adults and 6 children visited the church between 11.30 am and 5 .0 pm   We had visitors from the locality but also visitors from Lytham St Annes, Oldham and Surrey. Visits to the bell tower were very popular and we heard the bells ringing all afternoon. Tea, coffee and home made cakes were served. For the first time we had a Time Line telling us about the local history down one side of the church. Old photographs and documents were on display.
