On 5 May, Bank Holiday Monday, St Bart’s had another successful stall on Mill Fold as part of the 20th Ripponden Gala.  We ran a general stall and tombola, the human fruit machine and a very successful coconut shy.    Over £370 was raised.

On Sunday 25 May we say goodbye to Rev Rosie Bowers at her last service within the Benefice, at 10 o’clock at Barkisland.

We are all gearing up to a very busy time throughout June and early July.   We are collecting items to sell at the Tour de France – bottles , tea, coffee, crisps etc for the many visitors we anticipate.  We have rotas to clean the church between 17 – 19 June prior to our new Vicar’s installation on 26th; rotas to keep church open at weekends throughout the summer and every day between 30 June – 6 July as visitor numbers to the village increase. We are also asking for baking for all our visitors so there is  plenty to keep us occupied.

On 23 May the churchwardens had a good clear out in the old vestry and can now get in the filing cabinet again, amongst other improvements.  It had become a bit of a dumping ground in recent months and it is always astonishing what turns up in a clear-out.
